According to Chinese news this month, China has suspended ALL oversea (incl HK, Macau, and Taiwan) registration of .cn and .中国.

Within China, while the policy is still confusing, it’s likely registration will be limited to companies only. So company registration copy and company seal are required.

Also, rumors are flying that the government is developing both a white list and a black list. All domains (incl overseas) not sent to government for registration onto the while list will not be accessible because the government controls the host/IP resolution mechanism. Because the impact will be huge, there may be uproar from the general public.
